I've been working with Ill Gates's drum rack from his Studio Template. It contains 128's for kicks, snares, percussion, and hats. There is a chain for each individual drum pad, and then each type of drum hit is grouped and assigned to a macro knob for volume. Each drum hit's chain includes the sampler (where the 128's are), a pitch effect assigned to a macro to select the different sounds, and then another chain with an EQ, compressors, reverb, etc.
I can successfully program in the first sound with the sequencer (let's just say it's a kick). When I touch another pad and try to program in the second sound (say a snare), the pad stays yellow and the sequenced kicks won't go away. I can hit the record button, and lay down some snares, but the sequencer still shows only the kick pattern. The only way I can get it to show the other sequenced samples is to actually click/select each pad with my mouse. Is this some kind of bug or is there something I need to modify in the Ill Gates setup that is causing this? Also, even before step sequencing, if you just touch one of the drum pads, it doesn't turn blue like it is supposed to.
I threw together a quick drum rack with some samplers directly on the pads, and turned them into 128's. Doing it this way, the step sequencer works as it should. I'm having trouble reverse engineering the Ill Gates rack to figure out what's going on with it. Anybody have any ideas? I'd like to use his rack because it's pretty deep.
Thanks
