Should be... Question. I am assuming you already own Live. How did you get the Live Intro? Did you register your Push on your existing Ableton account or make a new account to register Push on to get the license for intro? I am asking this as it seems from some other threads Abes aren't giving Live Intro licenses to 'existing' Live license users, a stance I strongly disagree with as it discriminates against existing Ableton users and prevents any of us from introducing others to Ableton in the way you are suggesting doing.

Yes I have Suite and you are right... I thought upon registering Push I would receive the Intro license but I didn't...so I guess my brother is out of luck. That stinks.

Personally I am very unhappy with Ableton with this decision & will be letting them know. I wanted to do the same and gift my daughter with the intro license as she is a very musical creative person. Push is advertised as 'always coming with Live 9 Intro' so that should be the case whether you have an existing licence or not. The price for the Push unit is the same for licence holders as non-licence holders so there is a clear discrimination if they are not giving Intro with Push to existing Licence holders, not to mention false advertising.
It's also short-sighted business practice. The reason I am a Live 9 suite owner today is because of my free Live Launchpad edition that came with the Launchpad I invested in way back when (initially to run monome appps)
How many potential users will they not get because of this silly & questionable decision?

I gotta say...I completely agree with you. I told him a few days ago that he would have the Intro version and now this is a huge disappointment. This stinks.

odd... the Live Suite box comes with a disc specifically for the purpose of giving to someone to turn them on to Live (of course you now have to pay 50 bucks to get the box). how would the Abes know that the intro disc that came with your Push is yours vs. anyone's??? i don't see how this wouldn't work... unless you've already registered the copy of Live that is on the intro disc.

for those giving it to someone you know, try registering it under a new account. then when the new account gets into, just use push on the other one. push will work on any account... doesn't need to technically be registered to yours

as far as I remember the disc that comes with suite is a copy of the demo, not lite

Push does not come with a physical disk.

@ Upright - I posted this in another discussion basically talking about the same thing, but wanted to post here in case you miss it. In my view this is simply a mistake Ableton will realise needs to be addressed. 'Every Push comes with Live 9 Intro' & 'Push Always Comes with Live' according to their advertising and that is the way it should be for all purchasers of Push, no ifs no buts and no maybes, so hopefully your brother won't be disappointed just yet!

http://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/mislea ... ing-claims
Creating a false or misleading impression

Businesses are not allowed to make statements that are incorrect or likely to create a false impression.

This rule applies to their advertising, their product packaging, and any information provided to you by their staff or online shopping services. It also applies to any statements made by businesses in the media or online, such as testimonials on their websites or social media pages.

For example, businesses cannot make false claims about:

the quality, style, model or history of a product or service
whether the goods are new
the sponsorship, performance characteristics, accessories, benefits or use of products and services
the availability of repair facilities or spare parts
the need for the goods or services
any exclusions on the goods and services.
It makes no difference whether the business intended to mislead you or not. If the overall impression left by a business’s advertisement, promotion, quotation, statement or other representation creates a misleading impression in your mind—such as to the price, value or the quality of any goods and services—then the behaviour is likely to breach the law.

There is one exception to this rule. Sometimes businesses may use wildly exaggerated or vague claims about a product or service that no one could possibly treat seriously or find misleading. For example, a restaurant claims they have the ‘best steaks on earth’. These types of claims are known as ‘puffery’ and are not considered misleading.

In their advertising there is absolutely no caveat saying 'Every Push' or 'Push Always' ..."except if you are already a Live Licence owner"

Therefore every individual who purchases Push regardless of if they already have a pre-existing Live licence or not has every reasonable expectation of receiving a Live Intro Licence with their Push

Seems pretty straight forward to me.

I would like to think Ableton support has simply made a mistake in this case, one which will be rectified soon hopefully.

Totally! I contacted Ableton support and as soon as they get back with me I'll let you know the outcome.

Im still waiting to hear back if on a license transfer of a push if the new owner would receive a copy of intro since I have no copy to transfer to them.

They responded really quick to tell me I would have NO copy at all since I already owned one, but so far after a few days Ive gotten no response on if there is anyway for a new owner to get one in the future or for me to get one in any way. Seems they might not have fully thought out their licensing schemes for this, not sure why it was so hard to just include an intro serial number in the box, none of this would be going on if they had done that

Wow, seems they're blatantly ignoring what they clearly stated in their own ads. That's pretty bad.

Just a quick FYI, if you purchased Push with an upgrade to Ableton Live 9 or Ableton Live 9 Suite, then you do not get a license for Live 9 Intro.

Thanks for getting back to us on this David. In a dfferent thread (viewtopic.php?f=55&t=191922&start) the impression given to another user in an email from Ableton support gave a different impression as he was told
Thank you for contacting us.

The free Live Intro license is only included if a customer is new to Live.

Since you already own a Live license, unfortunately the Intro license does not come with Push.

Feel free to get back to us if you have any further questions or concerns.
This is why I and a few others were getting frustrated, the message was contrary to all the stated advertising (as spoken about & examples given by me above) The communication needs to be clarified (& possibly the registration process & Live Intro license provision procedures when registering Push as well)
So I would just like to clarify - As an example, I am purchasing Push from an Australian distributor for $630 Australian - this is a completely separate transaction from my purchase last year from Ableton of a Live 8/9 Suite Upgrade.
From your reply to this topic my understanding is that I will be eligible for a Live Intro License with the Push unit I purchase. This makes sense to me and is in line with the expectations generated by Ableton in their promotions and advertising regarding Push.
One other question, as it is not obvious to me - Exactly how is the Intro License obtained, as there is no disk or license in the box? - when I register my Push? (Once again, even though I already have a Suite 9 License)?
Thank you in advance for any further clarification.
