APC40 - Drum Rack Mapping HELP

Is it possible?

I want to setup a 4 x 4 block on my APC40 to setup for use in an MPC-style fashion to loop and finger-drum live.

When I try to MIDI/Key-map this manually, the sample buttons are greyed out and I can't even map my keyboard nor my APC40 if I wanted to. I'm at a loss...

Google and YouTube were zero help. I understand that the APC40 has no sense of velocity in it, but I don't see why it isn't possible to setup a block of the pads in an MPC-style fashion and finger-drum live. Any suggestions and/or comments are greatly appreciated!

There is also a quick and dirty solution where you create MIDI clips with Quantize: None and on Gate mode I suppose and then put one note in each and basically launch the clip to trigger a sound but that would only work in a vertical column.. that's not going to get you what you want but it does come in handy for certain situations so I thought I'd mention it

You want the APCP4d (link) Max for Live device

It basically turns the upper 4 x 4 section of the APC into a drumpad which can then control an associated drumrack. And for added bonus you also get visual feedback Oh; and obviously you have some velocity control too (using a rotary).

Its a very simple device but I wanted to have some fun with the APC without too much "hacking"; and that's when I came up with this thing. Drag it in, turn it on and you're ready to go.

Nice to come across this, trading my apc20 in for an apc40. sweet.
Is your APCP4d working nice with the latest max ?
