Rewiring live with Logic - getting started

Post by foop » Wed Apr 27, 2005 9:39 am

I'm having problems getting rewire to work at all in Live. I have loked at the tutorial on this site, but my setup doesn't seem to match theirs at all. I cvan't even get started. Can anyone help?!

My Setup:
Live 4.1
Logic Audio 6.3.1
Rewire is in /Library/Application Support.
I am running OS X 10.3.8 on a PB G4 (1.67GHz/1.5GB RAM)
I don't have any hardware audio interface attached, and as far as I'm aware everything is configured using default settings - I've only just got this computer.

I launch Logic, pick an Audio Instrument in the arrange window. In the 'Cha' paprameter for that instrument I select Rewire from the drop down menu, then the available options in the sub-menu are RW:Mix L, RW:Mix R and RW: Bus 03 thru to RW:Bus 16. I have tried setting up 4 or five Audio Instruments with the two Mix options selected, and the first few Bus options.

Then I launch Live, it gives me the message about being in slave mode, then i pick an audio track in Live, and in that track's output menu, i click on 'Master' but in the drop down menu, the only options I have are 'Ext Out', 'Master', '1-Audio' and 'Sends Only'. In the Rewire tutorial, the screenshot shows all these Bus 5/6, Bus 7/8 (etc) options. How do I get those to appear?

I'm expecting if I press play in Live, then switch to Logic, and also press play, I should see some activity in one of the level meters in Logic that I have assigned to Rewire and hear the clip that I have playing in the track in Live. Is that right?
