Lives current revision is 9.0.2 and the last version of 8 was 8.4.1.
Obviously the first number is the version of the software, and the last number I'm guessing is a revision, probably for bug fixes. But what is the middle number?
Is this just an arbitrary numbering system, or is there a definite order? Do all software programs follow this same convention?
what do all the numbers mean?

(Major Version) . (Minor version) . (had an idea, built it and it seemed to work and it didn't break too many other features)
