midi controller
midi controller
evolution or korg midi controller? Is the korg worth twice as much? I am comparing the 449c 49 and the korg 49 control usb. i have a korg trinity rack, novation supernova rack, motu 828 mkII, g5, reason, and live 4. I only use reason for the redrum at this point and see myself taking it out of the mix eventually. The only thing I hate more than my oxygen 8 is bying things twice. Not only do I need to be able to play things up upper and lower registers at the same time, but I want to eliminate as much conflict as possible. Does anyone have any advice on this matter?
i7 965, 6gb ddr3, asus p6t, xp sp3, emu 1616m pci, virus ti, Live 7.03, waves, psp, sonnox, magix, ohm boyz

2 nice things but what for exactly ?
Both of them (Evolution & Korg) have designed great piece of controllers. Especially, KORG have made the great Kontrol 49 with a great software to assign easilly every knobs, faders and keys. But it's really expensive !
On the other side Evolution Keyboards seems "dump" because they are made like toys, not really professional "look". But, they all works fine and Enigma is easy to assign evrything and there's a lot of "presets" for each applications you will use (vst, audio software, etc...)
I like Korg for the design and the reputation of the trademark but I have a little crush for Evolution interface and their prices.
I have a Oxygen 8 and use it a lot to compose and also mixing with it on Live 4. If you must have a big keyboard (more than 25 keys) and the same use as your Oxygen 8, then buy an Evolution (the 49 keys have 8 knobs, 9 faders, 10 buttons, and memories for MIDI patches ! And it's also cheaper !) But I think if one day I have lot of money to spend on a great keyboard, I would like to buy the M-Audio 88 Keys, with all the knobs and faders, with a piano-touch sensitivity. Have your choice, and why don't you test all them in the nearest supplier ?

Personally saving for this:
http://www.tascamcontractor.com/product ... 2_FE-8.jpg
Note that the center piece is the Tascam 1884 and the to modular pieces are add ons..
It is a full DAW controller (midi assingable) and also a Firewire Interface... for $999 on ebay it looks like a steal
