Whoa
Whoa
omg.
had push geez, i dunno maybe a month ago.
been using it to trigger sessions, bass lines, chill little medodies and stuff. pads.
but man. tonight i tapped into something. kinda in that jordan ruddess guy kind of way.
granted im making much more trippy dubby music. but, i just locked into an insane improvistation mode, really, getting musical.
doing like, hammers on and hammer off, and then swiping the touch strip. like insane super fast trills and arpegios. ive played guitar for 15 years but i've never been able to improvise like this.
when shits in legato, and you're in key, and if there's like an envelope autmating a filter over time, man it really is like you are playing an instrument. it's like you can do guitar solos on this thing
i kinda dig that now.
push has expression.

Re: Whoa
That's what I'm talking about. I can lose myself in this thing for hours. Jimi Hendrix meets Autechre, hahahahahaha!
Re: Whoa
Bro I feel your excitement. I'm 4 days in today I REALLY tapped into some things. I love what they did with scale mapping, plus having the ability to switch scale type and root key from the 2 top rows. Then all the repeat timings there to instantly create gated chords
. Then there's the way it works with drum racks! while the step sequencer is running, you can use the timing buttons to change the sequence zoom...try it if you've havent yet. And those are the simple discoveries There is so much here that I'll need to do an official video.
Re: Whoa
Yes, yes it is. It's too damn playable and inspiring. Once I found a sensitivity that works for my hands, it became very expressive.panten wrote:Is that a fault of Push though?
Like anything else, it requires some time to become proficient, but it eliminates many of the pitfalls of learning a new instrument.
There were some things overlooked that would have made it even better, but that could be addressed with updates.
This is one of the few times where I actually feel rewarded sticking with a company.
Considering the price of admission was large after several versions and all the add ons, buying "9" plus
Push made this a hard decision.
But as the OP said, Push has the ability to be a very expressive instrument.
Re: Whoa
I'd love to upload a vid to show what I'm talking about, but I guess u get it.. If I get hold of a good camera I'll upload something for sure.

You don't have to dude.[art] wrote:I'd love to upload a vid to show what I'm talking about, but I guess u get it.. If I get hold of a good camera I'll upload something for sure.
Any kind of simple mind who believed that the Push + long Live 8 lifespan + changes on the ninth flavor making the whole community in chaos ...
Suckers...
These guys may be smart in some way but they didn't foresee : GERMANS !!! ABLETON EVERYWHERE IN EDM/IDM/... well Ableton, or Traktor. Rane has become obsolete.
Sooooooooo........ Yeah, it's an instrument, I really think I'm losing a huge improvement in ... hm hm ... some say workflow, some say blaaahhh...
I catched the thing by watching Debussy and just after this sketchy and short evidence we don't discuss on a "controller / MIDI" level here. [EDIT] Yeah, the Rudess thing, but who knows how many as skilled pianists there are ? I'm not as good, but not so bad, I knew this gear was like... Think about the guy who first saw a real piano, wondering what's that big black and white thing looking like "...", that guy might have said "WTF, crap !", and after learning and practice
Yes, my STEINWAY doesn't need a computer. Yes, I play what I want (except from Liszt's Rhapsody 2, this guys had giant hands anyway).
So what ? I want a PUSH, because that's how it works : one day your parents or whatever told you to play, it was boring, classical, then you catch the thing (and I even don't mention the girls serial fucking you earn when performing pretty well).
So because I sold my launchpad, killed my APC40 with the PLAY+REC & switch ON shit, because my Oxygen61 is a piece of crap withtout any weight or aftertouch, I just wait for my bloody f***cking bank to give me my Visa Gold back, and I order a Push.
At the beginning every instrument sucks, no, the sucker is the performer.
I'm very amazed Ableton did it, and pleased you told us the truth, with accurate and at the same time "ok, you play or you like clicking" fashioned message in your post.
Thank you to be less stupid than a vast majority of BUYERS, who buy, then play their consumer role (unlike customers, who play, learn, and I could bet that mastering this little box added with true classical and theoric musical talent ...
In short : Whoa dude.
Just wait for being able to make music again, I won't play a score with a keyboard and a dying mouse.
