apc40, launchpad, apogee 1 with only 2 usb ports

Does anyone recommend using a usb hub live? will it slow down stuff in anyway? Or is there a possible way to connect an apc40, launchpad and an apogee 1 all together with just 2 usb ports?

Yes USB hubs are great! Even live. No problems. There is no other way to connect 3 devices to 2 ports.
Make sure you get a powered hub.
