Workflow Improvements RE: Audio Editing

Post by kclarkmusic » Tue Jul 16, 2013 3:51 am

I've been doing some serious audio editing lately and have found myself wanting the following:

Arrangement View follows/syncs to Detail View
Since you can't edit warp markers or MIDI notes in the large arrangement view, you find yourself going back and forth a lot, zooming in and out. Currently if you zoom way in on the Detail view, to try and nudge a MIDI note or transient over to align with a MIDI note or transient on another channel, you find yourself doing the same scrolling and zooming twice (Once for the Detail view and once for the larger arrangement window)

It would be great if these just "mirrored each other (In the Time dimension)

Pro Tools Style Edit Groups
Edit Groups (different from track groups/busses)
This is a must for editing any multi mic audio content. (Especially drums). You recently blogged Point Blanks quick tip on using the "Master" clip war mode, but I'm not sure that works for this problem.

I understand the Master Mode to mean that Live's Timeline is going to warp it's interpretation of time to whichever Audio Clip is set to Master. This is not useful for trying to perform identical Warp Marker adjustments to multiple clips.

Possible implementation could be similar to the Choke Groups in Drum Racks. You would add an extra drop down menu to the Clip Detail window. Then any clips that you want to edit together, you would assign to the same "Edit Group Number". Then any adjustments made to any warp markers on any of the clips in the group, would be applied to all clips in that group.

And then I could edit acoustic drum takes with ease and all would be right in the world.
