PC: Map keystrokes to mouse with Live in Administrator mode?

Post by j.brouwer » Tue Jul 23, 2013 2:48 pm

Aloha-

I have Live 9 on a Windows 7 machine, and use Jbridge to run 32-bit plugins on my 64-bit PC. This means Ableton has to run in Administrator mode.
I bought a new Logitech mouse the other day and want to map keystrokes to some of the extra buttons (e.g. "delete" will be one of the side buttons for faster audio cutting). Logitech has a program they use for this called Setpoint, which makes it really straight forward to map any kind of command to your buttons. You can even have application-specific keymaps for certain programs.

The keymaps work just fine in Windows explorer and in all my other programs, but not Ableton (which is the only one I really care about). This is because Ableton is in Administrator mode and overrides everything else on my system. If I don't run it as an Administrator, then I can't use some of my favorite plug-ins.

Does anyone have a way around this? It seems so simple but I can't figure it out for the life of me.

thanks,
