looper toggle randomly changes to play from +

I just started working with looper and a footcontroller (FCB1010)

Last night while playing around, i noticed that when I would activate the overdub funtion(+) via the controller it would only stay on for a few steps of the bar before toggling to play ( > ) on its own. thus, it wouldn't record my overdubs.

what am I doing wrong?

I don't own a FCB1010 but a quick search showed that A LOT of people struggled in the paston setting up the FCB1010 together with the looper. Here some links:

i've checked both google and many of those threads before i posted this...

this seemed to be something unusual that i thought might not stem from the FCB1010, but rather some setting i needed to change. Thank you very much for the links though!
