struggling to make beats

hi
im really struggling to make beats with l8
please excuse my terminology as i dont know any, im using impulse.

B) ive got some samples into the pads but as soon as i click on to the midi note editor the pads dissapear so i cant edit the samples,how can i get my pads back?

A) also when i insert a midi track ive noticed a few things missing from it not sure how to get these back, or do i need them.

[Bagatell]

A) Close the bottom frame - that triangle symbol in the bottom right hand corner.

B) Switch from clip view to instrument view - the two tabs next to the triangle.
