Extended audio cables and (possible) lag

Post by Fossiel » Tue Aug 13, 2013 11:02 am

I like to sit in the garden with my Push. Is it doable to extend my audio jacks (headphones) to 12 meters (39.3701 feet), or will I get enormous laggy situations?

If so, will it help to extend my usb 2.0 cable + soundcard instead?

Obviously, I prefer the first option.

as the speed of an electronic signal (which is analogue audio) through a copper (unshielded) cable is about the same as the speed of light, I wouldn't worry.

USB cables are limited to something like 5 meters, so you are definitely better off extending the audio. If you pick up too much hum, you can use a balanced/unbalanced converter at each end of the cable run.

You might loose a bit of volume and maybe a bit noise will be introduced, thats it
