Will I damage my audio interface?

I connected my turntable to my MPC1000 then to my audio interface via TRS. The MPC1000 is acting like an amplifier. I'm wondering if I will be damaging any equipment this way. I don't know if the output from the MPC1000 is too much for the audio interface (Focusrite). I'm doing this so I can record samples in Ableton.

You'd best get a phono input I think those levels could get a bit nasty otherwise.

The NI DJ4 has a dedicated phono input for example. I think there are also some phono to usb cables / devices.

only use a phono input for turntables with phono outputs.

you won't damage anything, you might just clip the audio. use your ears and some common sense. you do want to record as loud as possible to increase the signal to noise ratio.

Got on chat support with Focusrite and they said the Analog Output (+17dBu) of the MPC1000 is not enough to harm the audio interface.

Last night I did simply use my ears and adjust the gain and volume carefully until I got a waveform I could work with in Abeleton. I just wasn't sure if I was destroying anything.
