ableton no longer able to receive midi mappings?

hi there

i run a fairly simple ableton set on stage.

i use an old axiom 25 to trigger samples, with each scene representing a different song.

on certain songs, i use one of the mpc-ish 'pressure pads' to send a 'scene launch' command to live.

the whole setup has worked fine for years but all of sudden the 'scene launch' midi mapping is not working.
the keyboard continues to play samples just fine, but doesn't recognize scene launch at all anymore.

additionally, i can't create new midi mappings:
i enter midi mapping mode,
i select an element to control,
i hit a key on the axiom and...

nothing.

i've snooped around under midi/sync in preferences and double checked that the axiom 'pressure pad' is still sending the correct note to live (it is).

does anyone have any other ideas?

i'm at a loss besides two thoughts:

1) the original MIDI mapping for scene launch that worked for years is on channel 10. perhaps that's a clue?

2) i've recently started experimenting with a fishman tripleplay midi pickup. i did have to add it to the 'control surfaces' under midi/sync. perhaps it has knocked things out of wack in a way i don't understand?

that said, i'm fairly sure the midi mapping continued to work for at least a period of time after i introduced the tripleplay and in any case, the tripleplay doesn't have to be connected to have this problem.

any advice greatly appreciated!

You may have somehow changed presets on your controller. If that were the case, all your buttons would send different information than usual. If you are using a Control Surface script, make sure you're on the appropriate preset from your controller.

For midi mapping, you go to the bottom half of midi preferences and turn Remote on for that controller. Then it's stuff should be mappable.
