HDMI won't run through XLR

Post by slickoslav » Thu Aug 29, 2013 11:56 pm

I need an HDMI to XLR cable (male) to run through my female xlr matching 1/4'' transformer so i can finally send my audio through a MIDI interface. I got this sick VST last night. I've been looking everywhere and can't find it. I will buy someone a cola if they can help me with this issue.

I don't think such a cable exists.

You may have to search for another adapter to translate CEE to XLR, though.

I concur, I did a quick Google search and found nothing. You may have to deal with adapters if anything exists. Audio through a MIDI interface? Your MIDI should either be just that or an audio/MIDI interface else I am missing something here....

HDMI is a really complex AV standard. a widget like this isn't going to exist.

Its not clear to me what the transformer and the MIDI interface are doing, but as the audio in HDMI is digital a lead will not separate it. You need an HDMI extractor such as this:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/ViewHD-Analog-C ... escription

You could then get a lead to get the analog audio into the XLR input on your transformer
Or the alternative devices linked from that page include ones with digital audio outputs if your interface can accept such

The new Thunderbolt cables from Apple2.0 can do this..
2.8ghz Quad Mac, Live 9.77, Remote25, Maschine 1, Fa-66 optical link, Samson 65a. Dog hair.. lots.
