Question concerning peaking in grouped sounds
I was messing around with some recorded drums recently, and realized it appeared my bass drum was peaking massively in it's individual track, yet seemed to sound fine as part of the whole drumset (a group who's volume was turned down slightly). So now I'm curious, if an individual track is peaking, but is attenuated as part of a group, is there any actual distortion created?

Hey man I just tested this and no actual distortion is being created once you lower the actual group.
Essentially you are bringing it backdown as a whole. The only thing is it will effect your sample and the way it sounds, which can be a good thing or bad depending if that's the sound you're going for. I would recommend lowering everything in your group to where it's not clipping and adjust the group accordingly.
