MadShifta in Ableton Live? Alternate live pitch shifters?

Post by thisissami » Thu Sep 19, 2013 10:22 am

Does anybody know if MadShifta would work on a modern day Mac OS X running Live 9? It seems perfect for what I want to do, but I can't get either the Audio Units or the Mac VSTs to work properly.

I essentially need to be able to pitch shift an audio stream (a bunch of clips routing into some random track designated as the "pitch shifting track"), but I need to be able to do so using a keyboard. The notes I press on the keyboard would correspond to a distance away from some root note, and the shifter would automatically shift to said semitone-difference. MadShifta is capable of doing this, but I can't get it to work :( In case this isn't clear, this is for a live real-time performance.

Anybody know anything else or something in max4live that can do this? I've seen a couple other options in other threads on here. anybody know if the QuikQuak software can with key presses (midi notes effectively)? I'd prefer not to use that though because it's pricey... I've also tried the AU Pitch Shifter that comes with macs, but the sound quality isn't good...

Max for Live has some decent pitch shifters. Proper CPU killers but all is good.
