sending MIDI CCs to another MIDI or instrument track

Post by rheyne » Thu Oct 10, 2013 7:48 pm

Hello!
Is it possible (perhaps via an M4L device) to record MIDI CCs in a clip, and send those recorded CCs to a different MIDI or Instrument track?
I tried M4L devices "CC sender 8/16", and Robert Henke's "ControlChange8" but I'm not sure if they were designed to do what I'm trying to accomplish, as I was unable to get the intended destination track to receive the CC messages, even after setting the output section (of the track with the CCs) to go directly to the MIDI or Instrument track I'm trying to control.
Please let me know if I need to elaborate on my issue. Thanks for reading!

Why not just record a midi clip ?

When I record the MIDI clip, it's not sending CC data to other tracks because no envelopes are being drawn into that clip. You only see an editable envelope when you're controlling a parameter on the same channel you're recording to.

I'm trying to determine if there's maybe a plugin I can automate in a MIDI channel which will send CCs to either a specific track or the entire template, where any plugin configured to receive those CCs will change their values accordingly, regardless of what track they're on. I'm assuming Live won't do this natively, so I'm trying to find an M4L solution, too.

But if you send ccs to this tracks, it should record them. I don't get it.

It will record them if I record a clip in the destination track, or overdub it, but I don't want to do that. I want only notes in the first channel's clip, and I want subsequent MIDI tracks to contain the CC data for the original track, so I can selectively switch on-and-off the CC data tracks to stop automation on the original track. Like an automation toggle. The original track will only contain note-on and note-off messages, and I want to record CCs on additional MIDI tracks and send them to the original track (without recording or overdubbing to the original track). It's something a DAW like Cubase or Logic does natively, where any MIDI track can record an automation curve, and it can be routed to any instrument or device configured to receive that CC#.

I modified my MultiMapperCC device with toggles to turn automation on and off. let me know if this is of any help.
