autowarping "long" samples

Post by tbuechse » Thu Oct 17, 2013 11:38 am

Hey Folks,

after importing a file with a length of 30 sec it was autowarped although having deactivated the Autowarping Long samples option in the prefs. Can I adjust the length of the autodetection for Live? Can I adjust sensitivity of the Transition markers LIVE detects and can I quantize my manually added yellow warping markers. When I hit quantize every transient marker gets warped at the moment?

Thx

Hey Paul,

besides reading the manual its about coming to questions kind of "What if..."

So thanks for your help.

At the moment I try to get involved into warping a drum track with individual tracks

where I work around with the master slave warping and such.

If you would have some recommendations here

it depends on what you want to achieve by the warping.
Tightening, special effects, and by how much you want to change the drum hits original tempo will all require different approaches.
warping affects many aspects of the sound and its essential, for sonic fidelity, to use the appropriate method.
you asked about long samples but are now talking about drum hits (which are short), so i'm not sure i know what you want to know. feel free to elaborate but i am guessing you have stems of a drum kit(?) and you want to tighten the performance(?). in which case you will need to group warp.

ps. by 'texts' i meant option texts. not the manual as such. see here.... https://www.ableton.com/en/articles/opt ... file-live/

Hey Paul,

yes it is about warping a multitrack Drum Recording. I drag and dropped it inzo the Arrange View. The tracks are not too long (about 30 secs or so), but they were warped with Autowarping longs samples OFF, so LIVE detects it as short sample and automatically warps them, I guess...

I set the preferences for short samples to "Unwarped One Shot" now, hoping that LIVE does not autowarp the drum tracks in this way.
I also can turn the "Warp" Button off in the clip window: I select all clips, which is not a great deal, too.

What I like is the ability to group tracks as I learned now and move the individual tracks in relation to each other. For the moment I have to dig a bit into the different quantizing options trying to assigning them to the tracks. I want to experiment with MPC Grooves, swing settings etc... Phew!

Thank you!
Cheers Tim
