Need some pro's and con's of each! Komplete + ?

Logic Pro X + Komplete
Ableton Live Standard + Komplete
Ableton Suite

I've been using Ableton through umm...different means (broke college student). Finally saved enough money for this Christmas, I'm gonna take the dive and invest in a DAW/Synth. I'm a student so I get a discount on Ableton I believe, although it's still more a little more expensive than Logic. I have no experience with Logic since there's no demo, but I hear Logic is better for mixing/mastering/producing and Ableton has better workflow/composition, is this true or is it just what "everyone else says so I'll say it too." Anyway I'm gonna be making primarily EDM music, I've been playing keys and guitar for about 7 years so I'll probably incorporate that in too. Which option would you suggest I take to get the most out of my money?

Thanks in advance!

I've always used Ableton but if I was starting again I'd definitely have chosen Logic, it's just £140!!!! Ableton is probably better software but the price disparity is impossible to overlook.

What's your budget ? How big are your sample libraries?

Komplete and Ableton Suite aren't that comparable.

Komplete has more content and synths vs Suite.

Ableton Suite biggest Gem is probably the Operator (very versatile synth) followed by the extra effects and Max4Live. Most of the sample library doesn't kompare to komplete's. The only exception is the included Orchestral samples which are pretty good in Ableton. Max 4 Live is good though more so because of the extra effects and functionality it gives you in Live.

Other than that Komplete has far more gems. (FM8, Massive, Reaktor, Absynth, Kontakt, Monark, Battery). Komplete's synths are very powerful and Kontakt has a lot more quality content vs Suite IMO.

Logic I don't own but I hear it comes with better instruments and effects overall than Ableton Suite. I will say that Ableton does a great job in the effects department but not as great in the instrument department. Other than that Ableton vs. Logic is more workflow related.

Ableton is probably more geared for getting ideas composed quickly (especially for writers who compose in a more nonlinear fashion). Logic is more traditional so will have a better arrange view workflow, generally more complexities (which can be good or bad), and better automation.

Hard choice. If you know anyone with Logic you should definitely play around with it before deciding.
Logic is dead cheap and full featured no doubt. On the other hand if you know Live well, getting Suite and starting with that vast pallet is a good start.

One thing for sure though, getting Logic AND Komplete would be far too much just to start out with. There's enough in Logic's instruments and FX to keep you busy for a while. Pre-Live Suite 9 I would say Komplete and Live. I have Live 8 Suite and Komplete, and use Komplete instruments far more than Suite instruments, but the incorporation of Max For Live into Suite tips it in favor of 9 Suite.

So IMO the choice to start with is really between Live 9 Suite and Logic X, which financially gears it towards Logic, but it's all about workflow.
I like Logic, but I like other DAWs better, and Live still hasn't any contenders of note in the realm of improvising loop firing etc.
