Sound CArd Issues

Post by Deepboy » Mon May 16, 2005 8:53 am

I bought a M - Audio Firewire Audiophile External soundcard for my lap top.
Loaded Ableton and for some reason When i select my audio preferences lets say i choose Asio and select my sound card all is fine till i add a few loops then it crashes. if i choose direct mme sound it comes out distorted and clips. Does any one know how to fix this ?? Im not sure if its a sound card thing or a Pc thing.

Cheers

Are you using the external power supply for the Audiophile?

Are you using the latest drivers?

When installing M-Audio drivers the advice is to completely remove the old ones(with the box disconnected), reboot, install the new ones, reboot and then reboot with the devices.

What Hardware and Operating System are you using?

Have you tested the Audiophile on another machine (eg a desktop) so you know that its not a hardware problem?

Don't have any other Firewire peripherals connected...

You might also want to try this....

Good Luck.

If you still having problems you might want to consider getting a Firewire PCMCIA/PCI card (using one of the M-Audio Approved Chipsets).

My Audiophile never worked right connected to the motherboard Firewire port but when I switched to a cheap (£10) Firewire PCI card its been fine!
