Orchestral Ensemble Essentials 2 vs. Suite instruments?

Post by deHaan » Fri Nov 01, 2013 10:50 am

Hi guys,

Can anyone tell if an upgrade to Orchestral Ensemble Essentials 2 by ProjectSAM when I already have the orchestral instruments included with the Ableton Live 9 Suite? Are these higher quality?

I know there are many other good good orchestral sample libraries, but I really like keeping everything within Ableton's environment not to get distracted :)

Cheers,
Nikolaj de Haan

Whilst I do not have the Orchestral Ensemble Essentials 2... I do have Symphobia by Project Sam.,... and also the Suite Orchestral sounds.

The Project Sam samples are recorded together, so it's sort of like playing a whole orchestra, as opposed to having to layer sounds together using the Suite sounds.

This has pros and cons I guess... in that you get great well balanced sounds without too much effort, but you can't always separate things out as you may want.

with the current 20% discount it's a bargain in comparison to the 'full' Symphobia.... So i'd say if you want to dabble in orchestral sounds, and the suite sounds are not quite doing it for you, then this is the next step up, so just do it!

Thanks for the input! What do you mean by the sounds are played together? The suite also has things like trumpet section, is that not what you mean?

I mean that you get sections of instruments that are recorded together in the same space at the same time... like cellos and low brass etc...
