Assigning Colours to Drumrack Pads
Assigning Colours to Drumrack Pads
Hey, today i was setting up my push for a live show and while assigning samples in drum rack i realised
how important it is to have visual feedback on your sample so assigning different colours to different pads would be a huge improvement! i know other pad based controller/instruments do it, so push should really have it too!
You could group your kicks to a colour, snares, hats what ever you like so you know what your hitting all the time.
What do u think?
max4live possible?
anyone wanna program it?
ive also posted in the beta forum and sent a suggestion to ableton.
cheers,
Adrien.

Re: Assigning Colours to Drumrack Pads
hmm.... i had PXT but it doesn't work now.
anyway its a huge omission and ableton really need to implement it asap, especially if they are keeping the "push is an instrument" route.
Defining the drum pads/sounds with colours will improve the playability and giving the user the visual feedback make so much sense, hence all the other companies doing it.
Come on ableton, lets get coloured drum rack pads!

Re: Assigning Colours to Drumrack Pads
Absolutely needs to happen. Frankly its baffling that the extremely customizable color support of the hardware has not been taken advantage of in this way. I imagine that the solution would come as an update to the drum rack instrument by adding color customization per cell, and from there the act of having the hardware retrieve the color value would hardly be a difficult chunk of code to add. This would make the drum racks immensely more intuitive.

I'm not sure what you mean by that, but we'd be more than happy to help you with it. Just send an email to the support address listed in the back of the manual and provide some detail on the problem you're havingadh82 wrote:hmm.... i had PXT but it doesn't work now.
@TomViolenz, it's PXT-Live Plus that has this functionality.

Re: Assigning Colours to Drumrack Pads
So I played my gig last night and using the push was great, BUT because all the pads were yellow I didn't know what I was about to push without drawing up a picture and writing it down or looking at my laptop! I thought the whole point was to not look at your screen, and having all yellow pads was a nightmare. We really do need to be able to assign colours to the drum rack pads.
It would be cool if they were also represented in the step sequencer/grid

Re: Assigning Colours to Drumrack Pads
So I’ve submitted another suggestion to get colour assignment to drum rack cells/pads.
But I would appreciate if people could also submit this suggestion, it’s the only way we can get it implemented!
Cheers,
Adrien.

Re: Assigning Colours to Drumrack Pads
I sent an email a while ago asking for the BETA version of the PXT for the Live 9 Betas. Never received a reply tho so cannot use PXT with the latest Betas at the moment.metastatik wrote:I'm not sure what you mean by that, but we'd be more than happy to help you with it. Re: Assigning Colours to Drumrack Pads
I'm having trouble with pxt too, I'm going to try and get it up and running again, but I think I'll need the plus version to get the drum pad functions I'm looking for, no?

Re: Assigning Colours to Drumrack Pads
^^ Yes, you'd need PXT-Live Plus (which includes a Drum Mode) in order to customize Drum Pad colors. And, again, please contact support and we'd be happy to help.
