VOCODERS

Post by KillerWave » Wed Feb 05, 2014 5:37 pm

I am absolutely obsessed with vocoders.... I especially love the sound that Tobacco / Black Moth Super Rainbow are able to achieve, as well as more EDM/ techno guys like Boys Noize have in their songs..!

I use vocoders as much as I can in my songs, but I feel like I still have so much to learn about programming them, to get them to sound the way I want them to sound - which i am really stumped because I feel like I'm great at making sweet synth patches, just when it comes to vocoders nothing works out! (wth)

Do any you guys know a lot about vocoders and could please please share your knowledge with me? Or perhaps any real guides or tips online or in book form to programming your vocoder patch as nicely as the artists I have in this post? I've been searching all over for years and never really found what I was looking for.

How the hell does Boys Noize achieve his signature vocoder sound?

Also, I obtain my vocoder sounds through reaktor's razr, ableton live 9, and even with a microKorg. I own Native Instrument's Komplete 9... Anybody else have that and use vocoders on any other software within Komplete? I see that there's something called "The Mouth" in reaktor but i haven't figured out what to do with that one yet!

I love them too :D

I have used that effect in my scary ambient stuff, in the past,in Reason and also in Live before now

Currently trying out Native Instruments Razor for vocoder effects.

I guess you figured you can also use the voocoder effect with drums, synths etc,as an insert effect, lol

I am a new user of Native Instuments, and Komplete, but have heard of the mouth,as yet,to read up on that,ha,ha

I had the original Electro Harmonix vocoder (not the little orange box ones out there now) many years ago , but sold it for the Akai, BIG mistake! If and when the Electro Harmonix show up on eBay they are going for a grand now. Wow!!! Killer vocoder if you can get your hands on one.

This is a synth and vocoder that I built in reaktor, its got a lot of possibilities that other vocoders just don't offer.

just make sure you read the download instruction carefully.

best of luck at getting your sound down.
