Push and 3rd party vst's

Post by cmreal04 » Wed Feb 19, 2014 12:07 pm

I'm sure this has been answered somewhere, but can I play 3rd party vst's from push if they're loaded into an instrument rack?

You certainly can. You can also control their parameters from the 8 encoders if you configured those with Live's "configure" button, but only up to a 128, and it's also quite messy - up to 16 Banks with no names, and the parameters names themselves can be quite cryptic

tom_d is working on a script that will enable you to greatly improve this behaviour though, enabling renaming of parameters and banks. So far Mac only, but he's working on a PC version as well.

Here is a link to that thread:

btw tom_d, will send a PM soon regarding being a guinea pig (if still needed)

Yep but you have to load each separate preset onto a separate rack if you're interested in loading the presets from Push. It takes a LONG time. I'm currently working on some and will share if I ever complete them - but they are a real PITA even if you can automate some of the process. You can get most the NI ones done already at audiomodder though, Omnisphere from freelance soundlabs, and Diva, Sylenth and some Arturia ones from Mabelton.

Yeah this is a tough call. I keep coming back to the novation sl boards....gotta go with one or the other, I'm not dropping over a grand for both.

Are you trying to decide between an SL and a Push? I just replaced my SL with a Push, would be happy to write some comparisons and thoughts if it would help?
