Question about max

Post by mcpable » Thu Feb 20, 2014 11:36 pm

I've never used max but sometimes I wonder if I'd be able to utilize it... like maybe a common LFO, though today I am wondering if this is possible with live: use note length to modify the envelope attack speed that controls a filter's cutoff frequency? So then after punching in a "wah, wahwahwah, wahhh"-style bassline I wouldn't have to zoom in and draw all of all of lines, and save time. Would max be capable of this?

Doesn't sound like anything too elaborate, although it's not entirely clear what "use note length to modify the envelope attack speed" means.

I mean that the length of the note, say 1 beat or 1.32 ms or whatever it is, could I use that value to modulate the attack value of an envelope controlling a filter cutoff frequency, so a longer note would take longer to open the filter, and shorter note it would be quicker.

I'm just wondering if this is something you can program with it

If you don't need to do it live, then sure, you could map that data easily.

Doing it live would require seeing into the future, i.e. knowing the length of the note before the note has finished being played.

Easily? This hunt's been taking me down a rabbit hole unless you got some quick words of advice
