Is there a way to stop recording after let say 2 bars, without using a Push?
There is a fixed length button on Push, but I can't find this option in Ableton.

you can use looper instead.
there may be a max for live equivalent.
you can also look at Clyphx

Push is only changing the Loop Length parameter in the Notes box. The value is MIDI assignable so you can map it other ways as well.

It still blows my mind that this is not an option in Live. And by the way, it doesn't really work that well if you have Push. I have tried to be very supportive and I really am appreciative and supportive of Ableton but, for the time and money I put into Live and its peripherals over the years, I'm a little bit disappointed. Lately, its been all mpc1000.

I agree that it is very absurd that this is not an option inside live. Maybe Ableton is trying to increase the sales of push 2 by making this function push specific.
