Problems i face with Live 4 - Any solutions?

Post by xpl2003 » Fri May 27, 2005 10:25 pm

Dear All

Problems im having at the moment and could tempt me to move away from ableton.

Motu 828 recording input - i get random noise when playing certain frequencies, sounds like as if the inputs are connected properly. I have been told this might a Windows XP SP2 issue due to the firewire. This makes it impossible to record external synths.

Sync Issues - Yet again i still have problems recording external synths in sync with software (microtonic and arps, drum sequncers) Sometimes they are ok. I have never under stood putting delay on the midi clock or adding latency to audio input. I have Buffer of 128 on the soundcard and it = about 5ms. Im using Midex 8 as midi interface so its face.

As above - I need midi clock sending to all my synths (without daisy chaining them). One clock source output can only be selected. I have been told to use midi yoke for this? Looks complicated tho.

Most of these issues i didnt have in Cubase and im thinking of reverting back but i do love abletons loop/live/gui etc etc!

Maybe Live 5 will have these issues sorted?

Thanks

I don't have any sync issues and I'm using external synths, VSTi's and the midex 8 interface, there must be another issue affecting your sync.
