Live 2.01 running Mac 9.x BUGS

Post by neuronaut » Sun Dec 22, 2002 1:27 am

- Using the tap tempo with a triggered key on the keyboard locks the music up and starts playing a screeching sound (like the samples being played really slow?) until it recovers and begins playing back normally
- Choosing an audio output creates the same temporary freeze
- I CAN'T double click on the row titles to change the names anymore
- 1.5 can't read 2.0 files I had to go to my backups to save myself.

I have returned to version 1.5 for the time being. As it stands now, the $69 upgrade to 2.01 was not worth it. I hope the money will go to getting it fixed.

Your Nr 1 bug (tap tempo) & nr2 (audio output)
Can not duplicate - works fine on win2000

Your nr3 bug (double click)
Yes can duplicate -

Your nr 4 (1.5 vs 2.0)
Think we were warned that this was the case ... in analogy I would say you can eg. open word 6 files with word2000 but not vice versa

Hi Neuronaut,

I need much more details about the "temporary freeze" to find the reason and/or a solution.

So, firstly please let me now what your hardware setup is (Which Mac, which os version, which audio & mid hardware).

Just to get sure that I understand you right..

1) Tap Tempo
You assign a key to TapTtempo and when you press that key Live freezes immediately for a (how long?) moment? Does it happen the same when clicking on TapTempo with the mouse?

2) Audio output
Do you mean the selecting of an stereo out channel in track's routing menu or do you mean the generally selection of a audio device in the preferences?

3) Track / Scene renaming
This is changed in Live 2. You have to use Command + E (Mac) or Ctrl + E (PC) to rename Tracks or Scenes. To much people did a doubleclick by mistake when they just wanted to select a Track/Scene. So that's why we changed it. It's described in the Live 2 manual.

regards,
Alex

Hi Alex

What I really do miss is the convenience of context-sensitive Dropdown-Menus
on right mousebutton-click.

Wouldn't it be nice and easy to implement just to have commands like
RENAME, MIDI LEARN, REMOTE KEY ASSIGN and the like just on the tip
of your right mousebutton - like any WIN-application...

Sorry Alex. I was just trying to get my bugs to you before I went out so I didn't have time for the details. Also, I couldn't email the bug list because of the computer I was on. Details are below.

Mac: Powerbook G3 Bronze (or whatever they call it now)
OS: 9.2.2
Audio Hardware: Hammerfall Multiset DSP with latest drivers
Midi: MOTU MTP AV

(Everything runs perfectly with version 1.5)

1) When I click Tap with the mouse it's fine. When I attached the 'q' key to trigger it, it froze for about 2-5 seconds (long enough to make me think it was time for a reboot) and then it came back.

2) I was selecting the stereo out on a track's routing menu. The timing of the freeze and the audio symptoms (screetching samples) seemed to be about the same.

My uninformed guess is that processor cycles are taking longer because the stack of events is being interrupted or something.

Any news

Post by neuronaut » Tue Jan 07, 2003 7:11 pm

Any news on fixing these bugs? Even though I paid the $$ and want to use the new features, I'm still using 1.5 until I hear otherwise.

I can't have my LIVE act lock up mid performance!

Any expected date for the release of a new version of 2.0?

Thanks.

Hi neuronaut,

Unfortunately we cannot reproduce the behaviour you have.
So we have to reduce possible dependencies.

Please Delete (or Rename) the Live 2 preferences (...ableton\Live 2.0.1\Preferences\Preferences.cfg"

Does it make a difference if you select the SoundManager instead of the Hammerfall ASIO driver?

Alex
