Confidence

Post by Tarekith » Thu Mar 20, 2014 11:58 pm

Having confidence in your music is one of the most important things you can do:

A quick little blog post about some observations I've come to about why some people seem more confident in their music than others.

Thank you Tarekith, a great piece.

To me, it seems that confidence for them comes not just from having achieved some success, but being realistic about their skills at any time too. When you know you have an endless journey ahead of you, and take that desperate rush out of the equation, you become more accepting of what you feel your current limitations are.

Good advice. Thank you for taking the time to write this, and for sharing.

Good article, thanks. It's a realisation that has taken me about 4 years to get to! One trap I had fallen into was not being prepared to put anything less than excellent tracks "out there". As I'm a relative newbie (dipping in and out over 4 years) I never put any tracks out (because they weren't excellent). I also rarely finished tracks. I'm slowly changing and starting to finish more tracks. It's hard when you know they're not EXACTLY what you want them to be. I even uploaded to Soundcloud the other day. Finishing tracks and sharing them is helping me learn much more than getting lost in perfectionism and being pissed off I never finish anything.

Well done a very good piece of advice :D

For me ,taking the path to make my own stuff, was difficult,as I have no formal training (like most people here I guess)

But with a lot of determination, taking inspiration and learning to listen to others I am getting better.

Although I am not making much music (as a hobby) my full time job comes first for me.

Having the confidence in yourself is essential, and the willingness to learn is great too

But have fun while d making music :D

A very weird thing sometimes is the tracks I put hardly any work in sometimes be the ones that people like the most.

Basically what I am saying is that you will be surprised what many people end up liking.
