On my old computer, my CPU load meter would jump up past 50% when I would have only 10 or so stems playing simultaneously and would give me pops, crackles, and other forms of audio interference.
I thought it had to do with how poor my computer was, 6GB of RAM, some shitty old processor from 5 years ago in a HP desktop. So I saved up for a new computer, hoping to get rid of all of my past annoyances with 16GB of RAM, 64 bit Windows 8, 6 core i7-4930K. Unfortunately, I'm still having problems (not the same problems as before) with outside sounds interfering with my projects. I place the blame on my Audio Interface, but I'm still pushing 50% on the CPU Load Meter when playing only 10 stems. It's like all of these upgrades did nothing.
Does anyone else have issues like this or have any suggestions for optimizing more performance directed towards Ableton?
Thank you

If you're getting outside sounds coming through your speakers (radio?) perhaps you need better cables with metal shielding to block interference.

It might help if you say what your audio interface is. Same interface, same CPU reading (if you're referring to the meter in Live).
Pops, crackles etc. is likely to be related to ASIO buffer size which is (again) down to your audio interface.
