There are MIDI products which have been developed for Ableton (APC, Push, etc.) and work well. However, I haven't seen an audio interface yet that is designed specifically for Live (Pull
There are many different products on the market and many possible combinations. This, inherently, leads to complications. I have been using a MOTU 828 mk3 which was working fairly well (64 sample buffer) with Live until the latest firmware update. Now it makes a horrible noise intermittently and MOTU support hasn't been capable of helping me with the issue.
I play drums and have been pursuing the ability to run the audio signal from my TD20 (drum module) through Live and control it (effects, clips, etc.) via MIDI messages sent from the TD20 and a ControlPad. The idea is to control Live from behind my kit as it processes and loops the drum audio and plays clips and sequences. It is extremely important to have ultra-low latency in order to do this in real time. The 828 is compact (good for portability) and has multiple in and out ports. I can split sounds from the TD20 to different tracks in Live and send them out on different channels to be mixed separately. It seems as though the technology available now (quad-core processors, USB 3, Thunderbolt) would provide the means for virtually delay-free audio through a computer DAW.
Thank you for your consideration.
