as the topic title states Mute does not work with external instrument device.
is this intentional?

I removed the device and just use midi out and mutes work.



never mind. i understand now. you are supposed to monitor the incoming audio and that will mute.
not a good option for me as i do not have enough inputs.

You can also try switching your MIDI track output to an empty audio track instead of Master. Then you can mute the audio track. That seems to work for me.
