Push to create new track for new instrument often swaps

I've found that often when I'm trying to create a new track -- like an instrument track after creating a drum track -- I will press Add Track, but Live only swaps my first instrument for the new one. Am I leaving out a step? I thought I was following the procedure in one of the instructional videos.

Have a check where you are within the structure hierarchy i.e. That after creating a drum rack you have not moved in --> to a drum pad or fx chain. Can't check right now if that could cause what you're experiencing but had similar things happen with fx being inserted into positions I didn't expect them to go.

Yeah that's an "issue" I keep getting when trying to load out a preset for an instrument while in the tweaking area of an instrument. I end up loading a second instrument into the chain instead of replacing it.

It appears my problem was that there was an additional step needed: Picking which KIND of track -- Audio or MIDI. I missed doing that.
