USB to MIDI cable not working in Ableton

Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

I bought this VicTsing USB IN-OUT MIDI Cable Converter PC to Music Keyboard Adapter Cord from Amazon : http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ACG ... UTF8&psc=1

and I'm using it plugged into my Yamaha PSR-260 which has MIDI In's and Out's on the back

and you know what? I figured out the answer as I was writing thi but I'm going to post it anyways in case someone googles it.

I had to connect the in to the out and vice versa.

Just fire up Ableton and it auto recognizes it and maps it - nothing to do but play.

Hi, I know this is very old. but did you happen to have to use an midi interface or it just automatically connected?
