mac audio output question
mac audio output question
is is possible to have live's output routed through 2 different sources?
ie: 2 channels from the audio out of my powerbook (to cue through) and another 2 channels output through a usb device for main output (eg m audio sonica)?
or do i have to buy a dedicated 4 output device like the audiophile?
any help with this will be much appreciated.

one of the updates to core audio in Tiger is:
It is a brilliant feature.
This lets you route your cue mix to the built in headphones (or built in audio out) and send your main audio out of another device (usb or firewire)Device Aggregation
Use multiple like devices as one virtual device in any Core Audio application.
It is a brilliant feature.

Did you try it by yourself? I had no plan to buy Tiger and I was not aware of this new audio feature... are there any other big improvement regarding audio?
Thanks.

Hi MFP,
What ejectorset mentioned is extremely cool... Another Tiger feature which other users have mentioned is the ability to sync midi between two macs WIRELESSLY using Airport... how cool is that? So if two grooving musicians with powerbooks want to sync up they can do it without ye olde cables...

Hi Milky,Milkmansound wrote:I still need to try the wireless or LAN midi sync with my 2 macs - that in my opinion is the coolest thing in the world. Now if only there was a wireless midi interface that I could put on my machinedrum, and have the mac sync to without any wires.
That is a cool idea... Shouldn't be too hard to do either - just a wireless transmitter/receiver attached to some little silicone bits and bobs with a midi cable hanging out the other end. I'll just go and make one now actually...
I reckon it will be less than six months before some clever person has one of these things for sale. And then we'll have the fantastic possibility that in a two room club we could have a drum n bass artist using wireless midi who accidentally hijacks the wireless network and forces the hiphop dude downstairs to play his set at 170bpm... harharhar har har oh that hurts

no i havent upgraded yet, but it is part of core audio and made to do exactly that. let you use multiple interfaces in software that only supports 1 interface. The Mysterious Flying Pum wrote:Hi ejectorset, ejectorset wrote:This lets you route your cue mix to the built in headphones (or built in audio out) and send your main audio out of another device (usb or firewire)
