A keyboard "Push" controller...

Post by login » Tue Jul 22, 2014 4:39 am

What about something similar to Push but with keys isntead of 32 pads, 2 rows of 16 pads each, the same screen and 8 knobs plus the extra buttons. Do you think it would be as nice, maybe even better for keyboard players?.

Why?!
Just get an additional keyboard.

The whole scale thing would make no sense on a keyboard :?

If they ever release another Push, I realy hope it's nothing boring like that.

The Novation Remote SL mkii is very similar to Push. Well, aside from not having a clip view or being able to browse and load instruments.

The one specific factor that drew me into Push was the ability to browse and load devices (deleting clips in Session is a nice feature too).

I believe it is Touchable which also has a pretty solid version of the loading devices feature. An advantage that it has over Push is the ability to look at a row and quickly put your finger on a device to drag it to a channel. This is a very fast workflow!!

What I think would be nice is maybe an app which is dedicated to Loading new devices from the browser in a fast and efficient way :P with tag/organization features.

Seems NI went ahead with this concept:

Honestly? What took them this long?!
But I'm sure it's good, all other NI controllers I know are.

Some online dealer leaked some Komplete 10 based products early. There's a long thread at Gearslutz about it.

Didn't they do this with a Kore keyboard too?

There was a Kore controller but it had no keys.

Yeah, I have never seen a Kore keyboard either. I wonder why though, they would have been a perfect match.

I'd wager a keyboard controller that always accesses the 8 peformance macros in NIs VI synth and can browse and load presets from these synths on the fly, brings back the Kore experience for 80% of the people. Because that's how they used Kore. The more advanced layering of multi instruments, was great, but only used by a few I think.

Interesting how the keyboard has a scale button and lights above the keyboard. I'm guessing you'll be able to select a scale and the lights above the keys will show which notes are in the scale, maybe even disable the keys that are not in the scale?

Nicely spotted! This could indeed be how to make it work on a regular piano layout. I wasn't even aware that NI had also implemented Scale functionality. Is that new, maybe since Maschine 2.0?!

If so, kudos to them for staying current with tech and inovating where appropriate!
(Would have been even nicer though, if the keys themselves had some LEDs in them. Also EyeCandy! )

I wonder how good the Arp will be!

The lights could also display the zones and the mode-switch keys in Kontakt, that would be awesome !
