Naming parts on header in arrangement view

Hi,
First of all, great product! I love it and work on a daily basis with it.

I really would like it if you implement the possibility to name parts of the arrangement in the header, so I can find certain parts easily in the arrangement view.

For example I can enter the folllowing names for a song in the header of the arrangement view:

intro, verse, chorus, verse2, chorus, bridge, chorus, outtro

Right now I found a workaround by making a "dummy" midi track on track 1 and draw empty midi parts with these names, but that is a bit silly don't you think?

Hi Eddy, When you say "naming the header in arrangement view" I assume you mean renaming each track. What you can also do (I dunno if this is what you're after but here goes) is split each section of your song in each track and rename those bits. As follows:

Say the intro is on the track "guitar" and lasts four bars. Click between bar 4 and 5 and an orange flashing line appears at the bar division (depending on quantisation level). Ctrl-E or Cmd-E (mac) to split the track at this point. Click on the coloured strip between bar 1 and 5 (the intro) and the sample view will display that part as a clip. You can then click in the box for the clip name and call it "intro" or "guitar introduction" or "mandy" or whatever you like. You can then split further sections in the same way and rename them. If you want to split a bit in the middle remember to split before and after the section.

The midi workaround you use is fine, although if you rearrange bits of the tracks in different places you would want to know what they are individually called. So name them like this and you can always see what you're working with.

I found that when you're doing vocals it helps to split the vocal into sections line by line and rename each section with the actual lyric for that part. Then you know what you're doing if you want to re-arrange passages to have different lyrics.

I see wotcha mean Eddy. That's a damn good idea. Your midi track one workaround is a good un though. Reason have got similar shortcomings with their sequencer as you can't name patterns or song sections, plus when you group stuff it changes colour randomly depending on what you do to it. So you end up with a very colourful meaningless Arrangment view.

You can use a locater. For adding a locater, right click on the scrub area and add locater. Rename locater to chorus, verse, bridge, etc. Cheers
