Big ups to you all for holding it down. I wanted to reach out and share something that I've been working on for the last few months.
To start, my name is Jesse Brede and I run Gravitas Recordings. I've worked with Jay Smith the founder of Livid Instruments on a number of projects. About 6 months ago, Jay reached out and told me that he had been diagnosed with ALS. This was before the whole Ice Bucket Challenge thing. We got together for a beer and he suggested that Gravitas help him create a music compilation to raise money for his new charity, Every90Minutes. What struck me was that he was already losing his ability to speak and fine motor control. It was truly heart breaking. I knew we had to help so, of course, I agreed.
Every90Minutes got its name because every 90 minutes someone is diagnosed with and another dies from ALS. At this time, there is not one single treatment for ALS. No pill, no stem cells, no radiation treatment, absolutely nothing. This is different then other diseases like cancer or heart attacks which have thousands of ways to treat and alleviate suffering.

As we have been working on this compilation, I've had the pleasure to work with some amazing artists, Bassnectar, BT, Psymbionic, Eliot Lipp, Tritonal, Richie Hawtin, Dub FX, John Acquaviva, ill.gates, Matthew Dear, Machinedrum and many more. Their music and attitudes are so inspiring.

We knew that just putting out a music compilation alone would not be enough to get the word out in a such a crazy busy world that we all live in. So we started reaching out to the music companies to put together this contest. We got huge donations from Livid Instruments, ill.Gates / illmethodology.com, Bitwig, Keith McMillen Instruments, Dave Smith Instruments, iZotope, and Native Instruments.
