Sends for each drum rack cell
Sends for each drum rack cell
I know it is possible to create a return chain inside the Drum Rack. But then it is only possible to control the Send via the Macro Controls from the Drum Rack. What I'd like to do is assign the Macro Controls from the cell itself (Each Drum Rack Cell has Instrument Racks inside) so I don't have to fill up all my Macro Controls from the Drum Rack.
Is this possible?

I don't think it is. Racks can only assign to macros what is in the hierarchy directly below it, and unfortunately the mixer controls are considered above.tummes wrote:I know it is possible to create a return chain inside the Drum Rack. This bothered me many times before too.
And I agree it's especially annoying in the case of DrumRack mixer parameters since you only have 8 DrumRack macros, but presumably many different cells with five sends each.
It could be that some M4L device could get around this though.
A good, but expensive(if you don't already own Push) solution, is the awesome PXT Live script from NativeKontrol for Push. With this you don't have to assign the DrumRack mixer controlls at all, in its DrumRack mode, you already have a dedicated encoder page for these and they also automatically update when you change the pad/cell.
Re: Sends for each drum rack cell
You could use the macros of individual pads (cells).
But yeah in the mean time Push + PXT live is the only way. No other controller or iPad app has control over drum rack mixer.

Re: Sends for each drum rack cell
Yes You Can.
Here's the work around, it deals with Nested Drum Racks.
If you group 1 chain from your drum rack, you get an instrument rack within a drum rack. BUT, if you group 2 or more chains, you get a nested drum rack. This nested drum rack can have it's own Returns. This return can be routed to the higher hierarchy of return chains, or even the returns of the entire set.
Route it to the return above, and map as normal the increase of an individual's cell to that send level.

@Steve Glen That's exactly what I wanted! It's funny how much is possible in Ableton if you're smart enough to figure it out.

the nested racks require the main volume to be turned up though.
unless i'm missing something?
