Looper/Monitoring question

Post by chuskey777 » Mon Nov 17, 2014 2:20 am

I'm trying to figure out an easy way for me to eliminate a bunch of pedals and a second pedalboard by using Live as my looping pedal and some effects.

My main setup live for guitar tones is a Line 6 HD500X. My signal is guitar straight into the HD500, USB from HD500 to my laptop, and audio out of the HD500 to powered monitor/PA.

The issue I'm running into is that looper requires the monitoring to be turned on in order for looper to get audio. The reason this is a problem is that when I do that I have the guitar signal from the HD500 going straight to the monitors AND into Live, which in turn also sends the monitored guitar signal out to the monitor as well. Due to the small amount of latency introduced by the audio going into then back out of Live I get a doubled/out of phase sound coming out of the monitors.

I'm playing around now with some multiple track/routing options to get around having the monitored signal making it out to the speakers. Is there a simple workout for this?

In summary, I need to not hear what I'm playing/looping going through Live as I play it, only have the looper play back the audio AFTER I have recorded it into looper.

I know I can go completely "in the box" and use plug ins for my guitar tone and just use the HD500X as an audio interface MIDI controller. I use S Gear for recording and love the tones. I'm just not sure I'm ready for that in a live environment. Plus there are times I will not use Live/looping and only the HD500, so I want to keep all of my tones for playing live coming from one place.

Thanks!!

Nevermind, I didn't notice the input to output option in the looper device. Problem solved.

Whoops :)
