Hi Guys-
This is more of a feature request than a bug.
Here is my situation- I've got a big live arrangement, which uses small samples from a big RAMdisk, and other large segments both from IDE and SCSI sources. When I go to organize the location of these samples between the volumes located on different drives- Live loses track of where the audio tracks are located upon loading. Since I'm splitting the location of the samples between different physical media in order to try to get better performance out of my Mac G4 DP533 under OS 5.2.3, I am repeatedly asked to locate the audio ping-ponging between two or more source locations.
Couldn't you guys implement some more software smarts to include automatic searching to find samples between the selections of volumes?
Kind of like in Logic Audo when audio is missing- a search option is provided so that all of the matching file names across all volumes are displayed as a choice- and then after one makes that choice- you are asked if the program is to continue to look for remaining missing audio from that path. If Live then went through the rest of the missing file list and found all of the audio in that selected path, and then moved on to the next missing set of audio searches- we would only have to supply two searches instead of this ping-ponging- which would save loads of time in some situations. Or perhaps an easier option for you to implement would be to allow a specification of automatic search paths in the preferences to look for the missing audio. Sort of like the UN*X shell's path environment variable setting.
Thanks again for the great program- and I hope that you guys are also working on improving the performance of the audio engine so that I may play more than 11 clips simultaneously from RAMdisk like I had no problem doing in Live 1.5
Best Regard,
