Strangest rewire problem ever, Logic 6 OSX

I can get live to open in rewire but I do not have access to any of my AU's or VST's. Even the part of the live prefs where you can choose to enable AU's and VST's is no longer there. Is this very stange or am I very ignorant?

Sorry ahbin, thats how it works. VSTs and AUs are disabled when Live is a ReWire slave.

Thank you for your reply. But honestly, what kind of nonsense is that?! What is the use of a rewire slave that can't use plug ins?? I am incredulous. Ableton, if you're reading this... come on! This is common sense stuff.
