APC200

Post by RabidC » Fri Apr 17, 2015 4:50 am

The goal is to disable the normal functionality of the button matrix on the APC40 (Ive found out how to do this from the forums thanks to some generous and knowledgeable folks), and create 5 separate banks of 40 buttons, ideally navigated through via the scene launch buttons.

My APC40 is my dedicated drum controller. I'd like to be able to have up to 200 drum loops(or anything else that can be controlled by a button), all accessible on the button matrix, and all connected to the same (1) midi track.

I'm very new to M4L(I haven't really needed it up to now), and I don't expect a detailed walk-through of how to do this, but I'm a busy dude who would just mainly like to know if this is even possible before i waste a lifetime figuring it out for myself.

Thanks for any insight!

Hey Rabid,

Most definitely possible, i do much the same with my Isotonik templates...

The MKI is slightly harder than the MKII as it doesn't have the grab and release functionality but ultimately it is possible yes!

Hey, Thakns for getting back to me! Im glad i will be able to make this happen eventually.

but after a couple of days researching it seems that I need a little more direction. I'm having a really hard time finding anything explaining how to customize any midi controller, unless it's how to add a step sequencer...

Your apc40 template looks great, S4racen, but I dont want to have to buy something just to take it apart and see how it works. I've also looked at the inside of the APC40 matrix modes by Juan Solo, but it didnt really show me anything new.

Are there any videos or articles that might explain anything having to do with customizing the button matrix an the APC40?

I've just started reading about the LOM navigator. I think getting a better understanding of that will help.

Still, if anyone has more specific direction it would be appreciated

Google "Hacking the APC40" should throw up a few pages...

ok, i must be missing something.

i found an uncompiled apc40 script. i tried changing some numbers and got the desired red box shape, but lost the rest of the default functionality of the apc. also the clip buttons seemed to generate random messages.

I just want to know how to change the shape of the red grid and have the buttons on the apc control the respective clips in live, but it's beginning to seem impossible unless i want to take some courses on python.

S4racen, do you know which one of your templates accomplished something like this? I'm at the point where I'm willing to pay for something that might help my understand, or just pay someone to do it for me.

You'll need to learn python I'm afraid... I read your other posts, it can only really be achieved with it...

Yes, ok. Thank you s4racen.

I mean, that sucks, but I feel better knowing what to focus on.

Thanks again
