Error: "Directory has been deleted

Post by Eav » Fri Jan 03, 2003 9:21 am

Hi all,

Just got 2.1. Only after a few hours of fooling around wih it, i can tell it rocks.
I encountered one problem though: I have a firewire harddrive connected to my Ti-book 667. When i try to open the drive in the browser window, i get the following error: Directory has been deleted. A bit annoying, because we're talking about the drive with all my audiofiles. Is this a known problem?

Thanks

yves

BTW, what OS version are you using ?
As a PC user , have the impression from the threads on the forum that Liveglitches are often dependent on the used Mac OS ...

I have found following (related?) info on the board here :
I must warn everybody who intended to use FireWire drives with OSX10.2.2 Jaguar and Live .
The Jaguar doesn't support the power management of external drives witch results in a FireWire HD spinning down after about 15 minutes .... with results in Audio problems in Live (crackles, glitches , etc) it is a really serious issue with Jaguar that maybe will be resolved in future updates.
But for now i have found a workarownd:
Install Jaguar on your external FireWire drive together with Live and set the energy saver to "NEVER" for everything.
Also someone mentionned powering up the firewire drive b4 starting up the laptop

Thanks for the reply. I'm using OS 9.2.
I've just rebooted Live, and i even get this error message while booting, and after the error message, nothing happens.

And yes, i power up my firewire devices before switching on the PB.

cheers

When i try to open the drive in the browser window, i get the following error: Directory has been deleted.
So apparently you can see the firewire drive in the browser , if I understand you well? I don't know anything about Mac's unfortunately ... could it have something to do with directory/share/partition - permission settings? A directory created by another application ?

(Just trying to bring up some ideas ... 'Bump')
