MIDI control of a MaxForLive device

hello!

Is there a way to control a MaxForLive device remotely with MIDI (from an iPad app?
I want a wired connection, without jailbreaking my iPad, so OSC is out.
But all M4L devices I've seen use OSC for remote control.
Is there any around that uses MIDI instead, that I could use as a startgin point?

Ultimately I want to use TouchOSC to send MIDI messages to control the MaxForLive device.
Will I need MIDI scripts?

Yes tha Maxforlive device needs to be able to be Midi mappable, I think I'm missing what you're asking, can you be more specific...
