Export Loop Points

Post by AndrewMichael » Thu Sep 10, 2015 1:20 am

I feel a bit obtuse for asking this, but I have searched and found no information on it (either in the forum or outside). Is there a way to export audio with loop points that other software can read? Specifically, Omnisphere 2.0 can now import user audio with the added bonus of reading loop points. However, exporting as a loop within Live's render dialog does not seem to set any loop points. I have tried over and over. It seems odd to me that a loop-based DAW would be unable to do this, which is why I feel I am overlooking something extremely obvious. Cheers!

Look around you: How many Software packages do you know that actually export loop points that can be used in other packages at all?
Not many I guess.

From the top of my head I can think of only three : ReCycle (plus Reason?) has a specific file format, Sony Acid (plus Sound Forge) uses wav metadata, Logic Pro/Garage Band/Apple Loops Utility use aiff metadata.

Lots of software wav editors will let you export the loop point data in the wav header. Wavelab, Soundforge, Triumph, Samplitude, etc. It's not that out there of a request IMO.

I can always tell when people who send me tracks for mastering use Logic to write the songs, since it puts not only with loop markers in the files, but temp markers too :)

Oh well. I suppose I shall have to add more software to the never-ending list of stuff to buy. I'm pretty sure I'm going to win the next lottery, though, so I'm good. Thanks, peeps!
