Ridiculously bad performance when playing a clip in Ableton
Ridiculously bad performance when playing a clip in Ableton
Im using Ableton Live 9 Lite and when trying to play audio from a midi track with Serum loaded in, im getting ridiculous performance spikes upwards of 120% CPU load. I have NEVER Had this problem before, my performance never peaking at anything higher than 20%. Im trying to play audio from a clip with many notes, and theres a fair bit of polyphonics within the synthesizer, but earlier i wasnt even these problem. after the past few hours its gotten so bad i cant play audio anymore because ableton crashes trying to render it and there is so much clipping and popping that it hurts to listen to. i have a pretty beefy computer and have never had this problem.i even removed all effects and have almost nothing except for a saw wave and multiband compression.

Possible issue
Check the power management settings of your computer and set it for Performance, I got spikes too when is in Balanced or Power Saver

Did you go crazy with the unison knobs? That can really slam the CPU.

Im on a desktop. im starting to think the problem may be im trying to get the program to play too many notes in very rapid succession, and its trying to keep up. im going to try an arp instead of manually drawing in the pattern

Two oscillators have about 6 - 10 voices, but i tried the same melody with a basic saw wave with no unison and the performance was still bad. im thinking i just built the melody wrongbeats me wrote:shortugae wrote:when trying to play audio from a midi track with Serum loaded in, im getting ridiculous performance spikes upwards of 120% CPU load.
