Exported track very quiet

I'm having a bit of difficulty making my tracks louder, when I export my track it sounds a lot quieter than other tracks. If I make my sounds any louder within the program, the meter will turn red and the sounds get distorted when I export. I haven't messed with any EQs yet.

If you're comparing your song to commercial releases, most likely those have been mastered thus limited to give them more volume. Here's a quick guide to help you sort this out on your own:
